Jersey Holidays For Heroes Ride Out 2025
It was great to take part in the Holidays for Heroes Ride Out here in Jersey on the 25th May. Every variety of bike takes part from Harley Davidsons and Ducatis to vintage scooters. The Ride Out has been taking place here in Jersey since 2011 and was started by Lee Butler. The event has always raised money for Holidays For Heroes. 14 years on the Ride Out is still taking place and there is always a great turn out. I first attended the Holidays For Heroes Ride Out in 2011 when I was only 10 years old, and I can remember it well to this day. Obviously I was not riding, but I can remember the huge number of bikes which turned up for the good cause. This year 500 bikes took part. Over £6,000 was raised for the charity 'Holidays for Heroes', a great amount to raise.
The scooterists met in Gorey before heading to the main meeting point at St Catherine's Pier. The scooters always turn heads. Who doesn't love a well styled bit of tin! The Ride Out started at St Catherine's, heading through town, finishing at The Watersplash in St Ouen. We were very fortunate the weather was on our side this year, which made the riding experience a lot brighter. Along the way bystanders outside their houses, on the pavement or in cars waved at us as we went past.
The scooters took a detour to Corbiere Lighthouse. A definite stop for anyone not from Jersey. We enjoyed the view before heading back home. I must say it was a surprise that no one broke down which just makes life so much more joyful. Anyone reading this with a scooter would understand.
A very well organised event from all of the team this year including Richard Harwood who is retiring from the post of Chairman. I hope to be there next year.
