Vespa GT Project Update

Only a short update on the GT project, but I have made a nice leap forward. I have now routed the wiring loom and throttle, gear cables etc in to the scooter, which sometimes can be a bit of a hassle as the cables can get stuck or jammed. However, I overcame this and the wiring and cable units are now installed and ready to be connected up. The floor runners have also been installed. Originally on the scooter there were no holes to state where the floor runners were previously. This meant new holes for the rivets had to be measured and drilled. Thankfully, the holes were drilled in the correct positions and were not out of line. On a few of the holes it was quite hard for the rivets to go through first time, but with applying a little more force the rivets went straight through and were tight in to place. In regards to the legshield trim, I had tried to fit a plastic one but it was just not going in to place as it should. My dad and I tried using a heat gun to see if this would help to bend the trim into place, but this did not work and the trim became rather disfigured. I then decided to go back to the rubber legshield trim I had bought. This one fitted like a glove. Lastly, the stand has been fitted. Did the stand fit straight away? No it did not. The screw holes in the stand brackets were too small. This then meant that we had to use a drill to make the holes bigger for the stand to fit properly. Finally, after a bit of bodging, the stand was perfect. It seems that most parts bought on the web nowadays need adapting to fit. But never mind, there is always a solution to every problem. In scootering I mean... I hope you all enjoyed the update and there will be more to follow soon!!!
